Drum Instruction
Imaginative Studios

There are several books that I will be teaching lessons out of. These books should be purchased before the first lesson unless there are prior arrangements made between us. I will link each book to Amazon, but they can also be purchased from your local music store.

Stick Control by George Stone
Syncopation for the Modern Drummer by Ted Reed

Also, a book of sheet music is required for me to write down lesson plans and any additional material for the student to work on. Any size will do, but I will link to an example here.

You will also (obviously) need a pair of sticks. Any sticks will do, but I will go over the art of choosing the right stick in our lessons. I would prefer a larger, marching pair of sticks, like Vic Firth Ralph Hardimons. Also, for practice at home, a practice pad and metronome are required for optimal practice.

As stated before, if you are unable to pick these up prior to the first lesson, communicate that with me so we can arrange a workaround.

These next two books are just supplements, should the student choose to intensify their study into a particular style of music. I have listed these two in particular since I work out of these and think they are fantastic. These are not required and not part of my regular curriculum, but if you choose to get these books and want to work out of them, I will be more than happy to teach out of them.

Classic Rock Drummers by Ken Micallef
The Art of Bop Drumming by John Riley
